Feature Project

Ponderosa, Peachland, B.C.

Located in beautiful Peachland, B.C. in the sunny Okanagan Valley, the Ponderosa Golf Course is soon to be transformed into a stunning 400-acre community development complete with a Greg Norman designed 7,100 yard championship golf course. In December 2008 Treegroup received fourth and final reading from the District of Peachland for the Pincushion Area Sector Plan changes that paved the way for development of the 2,000 plus unit new home community. In November 2009, Greg Norman and his team walked the existing and future course layout and made final design changes to the planned championship course.

Ponderosa has been comprehensively planned to bring about a sustainable, new and identifiable community integrated within the existing City of Peachland. This exciting plan includes a world-class golf course and an urban village on more than 400 acres in the beautiful Okanagan at the crossroads of two major highways.

In addition to developing the new golf course, Treegroup will be managing and coordinating the building of more than 2,000 housing units for all demographics. Also included will be a premium winery, a year round skating rink, an amphitheatre, luxury hotel and cultural centre. An extensive system of parks and trails are a key feature of this new community. A looped trail system will link Pincushion Mountain summit with neighborhood parks and pathways within the village centre. Public trails will surround the golf course to connect with and enhance the existing Pincushion Mountain trail network. These trails are planned as an integral part of the overall course layout and will offer recreational opportunities with breathtaking vantage points. Land protected for ecological purposes will be plentiful and sustained in a wilderness state as much as possible. The master plan for this project received municipal approval in December 2008. The Ponderosa Golf facility and the first phase of the urban development component of this project are anticipated to break ground in 2010. Cutting of line of sight for the new course layout began in December 2009.
